They finally have a blog.  It's good but not as good as the minute by minute updates from the Muqata and Israellycool....IMHO.  But check it out, it does have good info and this is the official word from the IDF.

Valkyrie review

This evening I went to see the movie.  I did not have much hope for it because it is a Tom Cruise driven flick.  However, I was quite impressed.  The one thing I notice is for a flick that takes place in Nazi Germany there are not alot of Heil Hitler salutes going on.  Very interesting, there was even a scene were a general had to force it from the Tom Cruise character - somehow I do not believe that scene actually happened.  On the whole it was a good flick.  I liked the follow through of what happened after the explosion.

Here is the thing with these type of movies (like Titanic) we already know the ending walking into the flick - so instead I am paying attention to other details like the costums, mannerisms.

The running joke with Titanic is that the movie lasted longer than the actual boat sinking.  But that premise does not work with this movie - they cut out some important aspects like Rommel's possible involvement for the sake of other facts and involvements of other characters.

In conclusion, it was a good movie - and I will probably buy it on DVD BUT, you might want to rent it first to see if you like it before you just go out and buy it.

Musical interlude

With all the drama going on.....I think its time for a bit of a musical interlude:

Blink 182 - She likes me for me

Weezer - Pork and Beans

Of course the one thing they are missing is something from the Hey Clip! LOL

Weezer - Beverly Hills

Latest from the war

And yes I do not really want to put this up...because it will freak out my sister.....BUT....I am going to do it..since it is becoming public knowledge:

This is from the Muqata:

2:04 PM IDF Homefront Command starts to distribute emergency directions for Rocket Attacks...in Tel Aviv. (source, see below for scanned copy)

With Hamas Rocket ranges now reaching 60 kilometers (as reported here at the Muqata, from Israel Radio), the IDF Homefront command has started preparing for the eventuality that Hamas rockets will reach the Tel Aviv area. Also included is the Beit Shemesh area, Modi'in, Ramla, Lod, Bnei Brak, Rechovot, Holon, Givaatayim, Petach Tikva...

Updated map coming soon.

What does this mean?  Well...basically that most of where were....while on vacation is potentially a target that can be reached by rockets from Gaza.  This is a major escalation in the war.  (We landed in Lod -  we lived in Tel Aviv...the Fed ex facility I was at was in Petach Tikva.  We drove by Modin, Ramle and Holon).  If Hamas can reach these targets they can basically reach Jerusalem as well.

_____

5:00 PM Map of Rocket Range - 60Km.
The following list is far from exhaustive and contains a list of cities...and well known places
that are now within the 60 kilometer range of Gazan rockets.

Alon Shvut
Ashdod
Ashkelon
Bat Yam
Beer Sheva
Beit Shemesh
Ben Gurion Airport
Elazar
Holon
Lod
Modi'in
Nof Ayalon
Ramat Beit Shemesh
Ramla
Rechovot
Rishon LTzion
Sederot
Tel Aviv
Yad Binyamin
Yavneh

Year in Review

Last year I did my first year in review.  I think its now about time to recap the year...and WHAT a year it was!

The year started with Chris and I planning our trip to Israel.  That seemed to be the running theme for most of the year!  That was absolutely the running thread.   Israel Israel ISRAEL!!!!

Anyway, the year seemed to drag on...so slow up until September.  The girls did less clips...and now no more new clips.  There was the stresses of personal lives...that seemed to start the beginning of the year...but also the highlight of increasing phone contact with Lital...from my first call on Christmas Day 2007 up until the trip.

Then FINALLY September came..and being all giddy with excitement at my first international travel.   Shawn adding himself to our plans at nearly the last minute...and trying to find a way to get the most out of the trip. With the little time we had.

The bittersweetness of landing in Lod....knowing that a lifetime of expectation and over a year of planning was going to be over in little over two weeks...   Meeting Lital, Yair, Adi and making new friends there.was BEYOND amazing!!!  Not to mention the euphoric 8th day...LOL When we had our tour of the Galilee, Golan, dinner and drinks with Adi and May...and later even more drinks with Lital.....That was it...man...that truly was it.  That was the highlight of the trip.

Then coming back and getting back into the daily grind...LOL yeah that was a let down...but the desire to go back and to live there permanently has NOT diminished one ounce...since I have been back.  And, that seems to be my goal....to get back to Israel.

So now...the year winds down...far differently than last year...no more new clips from the girls....the trip complete....Israel in a war.....Obama President....LOL  Honestly I have no idea where the next year will go.  But, hopefully the highs will be just as enjoyable as they were this year and the lows not so bad and easily overcome.

I just hope everyone is safe, secure and has a prosperous new year!

a Truce - are you fucking kidding me?

Haartz is reporting a possible 48 hour truce on Israel's side.

If this happens - and my G-d I hope it doesn't - but if it does...Israel deserves to lose.

There is no fucking way Israel should do something so civilized as to reward these barbarians with a lull in fighting.  FUCK!!! It's bad enough that Israel has allowed over 100 trucks of supplies to be sent into Gaza

Can you imagine this - WWII....US troops are fighting in the Ardennes forest in the Battle of the Bulge....but instead of us supplying our troops...we send 100 trucks with supplies to GERMANY?  WTF logic is this!  Fucking idiots!

You win wars by making the enemy scream UNCLE...and beg to stop..not by giving supplies to your enemies!

Now this shit about a truce?  Fuck does anyone in Israel know how to win a war anymore?  All this does is put more Israeli lives in danger because we all know Hamas wont stop firing those rockets!  Shit they haven't stopped firing them now!  Nor did they during the ceasefire!  No - what Israel needs to do is to invade with ground forces and beat Hamas so badly...so utterly...so convincingly that Hamas begs for peace.  BEAT THE WAR OUT OF THEM.  It is the only thing those fucking terrorists there understand.

Support Israeli Troops

There are a wide variety of organizations to donate money too that will help those soldiers in the front lines.

My favorite is pizza for the IDF.  They directly give food and drinks to those front line units and can make a huge difference in morale.

You can help individual soldiers - if you can only donate a few dollars or you can give assistance to an entire company of troops!!

The Curious Case of Benjiman Buttons

Very good flick!!

This is the Brad Pitt movie where he ages in reverse.  It was very interesting and for a near 3 hour movie did not seem very long.  It had a Meet Joe Black sort of feel to it.

And his character sort of reminded me in a way like Forrest Gump, interestingly enough - I think it was because of his accent (from New Orleans) but if you see the flick you will know what I mean.

This is definitely on the DVD buy list.

Chanukkah War

Has started!

Israel has sort of re-entered Gaza!  FUCKING FINALLY!

Drudge has it that this is the worst day for the Paleoanimals in 20 years...I wish it was so!  Now Hamas states that they are about to unleash hell!  So be it.  Israel should start dropping MOABS all over Gaza and we will see what happens then!

Honestly, I don't want this to escalate but it fucking needs to.  Israel needs to fight with both arms fully free to deal with this continual crap.  Israel has a right to defend itself and Gaza deserves to reap what it has continually sown!
